Safeguarding policy

Keeping every little
one safe

Play is best when everyone feels looked after. Here's how we protect the children, families and staff who make Little Streets special.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility here

Little Streets is committed to providing a safe, welcoming environment for every child who visits us. We take our duty of care seriously and follow safer-recruitment and child-protection best practice across our team, our building and our procedures — reviewed regularly to keep pace with best practice and guidance.

Our privacy commitment

Staff training

Every team member completes child-protection and safeguarding training before their first shift, with regular refreshers to keep knowledge current. Training covers recognising signs of harm, responding appropriately, and our reporting procedure.

DBS checks

All staff and regular volunteers who work directly with children hold an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, renewed in line with our safer-recruitment policy, before they are ever left unsupervised with children.

Adult supervision

Children must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult (aged 16+) at all times during their visit. Our play leaders support the session, but they don't replace a parent's own supervision of their child.

Lost child procedure

In the unlikely event a child becomes separated from their adult, our team follows a clear lost-child procedure: the building is secured, all exits are monitored, and every available team member searches the village immediately until the child is found.

Photography & filming

We ask all visitors to be mindful that other people's children may be in the background of their photos. Personal photography of your own children is welcome; please avoid capturing other families without their consent. Any official photography is clearly signposted in advance.

Reporting a concern

If you ever have a safeguarding concern — about our team, another visitor, or anything you've noticed — please tell a member of staff straight away or contact our safeguarding lead using the details below. All concerns are taken seriously and handled confidentially.
